This unique route through the Atlantic provinces combines tranquility, adventure, and maritime charm. The journey begins in Halifax, the largest city in the four provinces. Here, you can settle in, explore the port of Nova Scotia, visit Citadel Hill, sample fresh oysters, or cycle through the city.
From Halifax, you’ll drive past the iconic lighthouse at Peggy’s Cove to Annapolis Royal. From this colonial town, you’ll head to Digby Neck for a whale-watching safari in the Bay of Fundy. Climb aboard a rugged Zodiac or opt for a comfortable covered boat and get a chance to see humpback whales, northern right whales, and sometimes even blue whales up close. Nearby is Smith’s Cove, a place that feels like a well-kept secret. At low tide, you can walk across the ocean floor, among seaweed and glistening sea glass.

After this maritime stopover, you’ll take a ferry across the Bay of Fundy to Saint John. The Reversing Falls Rapids show you how a river changes direction twice a day. In Moncton, you’ll come face to face with the famous Hopewell Rocks, whimsical formations that offer a different spectacle with every tide.
Via the impressive Confederation Bridge, you’ll reach Charlottetown, the capital of Prince Edward Island. Visit the Green Gables Heritage Site in Cavendish or explore the Confederation Centre of the Arts.
After a ferry crossing, you’ll arrive at the breathtaking Cape Breton Highlands National Park. In Baddeck, step into the world of Alexander Graham Bell, and along the Cabot Trail, discover rugged cliffs and breathtaking panoramas. A short drive away lies Sydney, where the maritime atmosphere and the giant violin on the waterfront symbolize the region’s Celtic roots.
Exciting fact
The locals are known as the friendliest in Canada. They’re always up for a chat and never fail to say “sorry,” even if you’re the one who bumps into them.
From Argentia, you’ll sail to Newfoundland. In St. John’s, you’ll stroll through narrow streets lined with “jellybean houses”—colorful row houses that give the city its unique charm. In Trinity, you’ll wander among restored wooden houses and experience the past through the Trinity Pageant’s open-air theater.
In Twillingate, you’ll sail among icebergs and whales, and end up in Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring fjords, barren mountain peaks, and the mysterious Tablelands. A setting you won’t find anywhere else in the world. Via Baddeck, you’ll return to Halifax, marking the end of an unforgettable journey.
Exciting experience
The common thread in the kitchen? Lobster! From classic dishes to pizza, you’ll find it everywhere. A lobster-fishing excursion, where you head out onto the water yourself to catch this delicacy, rounds out the experience.
